Left Over Wizard

I got this from a friend and wanted to share it with others.

Do you have a hard time eating left over food. It's usually just a matter of not knowing how to reinvent it into another meal. With this Web site, you don't have to rack your brain trying to think of something different to make with you leftovers. You can just your into this wizard and let it do its thing!

It's really easy to use! All you have to do is select the ingredients and click on the What Can I Make? button. You can search with one to three ingredients. If your search comes up with no results, try to broaden it by dropping an ingredient.

Put in spaghetti sauce and cheddar cheese and the wizard comes up with 42 recipes. From that search, there is a crock pot pizza recipe. It looks and sounds delicious!

There are two great sections on the site are Flavor Combinations and What's Fresh Now!

Flavor Combinations gives you a list of the hottest flavor combos you can try searching for. Some of my favorites are listed, such as garlic, lemon and chicken. A few more favorites are soy sauce, orange juice and ginger. This section gives you great inspiration.

What's Fresh Now gives you a listing of what's in season right now. It allows you to plan your meals around those fresh ingredients. You can even change the month and pre-plan your meals. For example, switch the month to November and you'll see what will be fresh for Thanksgiving.

Do you have some leftovers, give the site a try to get a great recipe and start making dinner. You get to try something new and exciting with your leftovers.

Attn: 50 and Over Shingles

Over the years there seems to be more and more out breaks of Shingles. You do not even realize that that is what you have. In most cases it looks like you have been bitten by a spider. It can start out with just little red spots that soon look like pimples that have not come to a head yet. You may have uncontrollable itching and extreme discomfort or pain. The pain is at your nerve endings, so it intensifies the pain. The pimples then start to look like blisters and fill with liquid and sometimes pus. These will eventually break open and the liquid causes more shingles to spread. Once you begin the medication to help stop the shingles which takes about a week, then the areas will start to dry up. It will take a good 6 to 8 weeks to recover from the initial shingles outbreak. It make take months or even years before the nerve damage, neuropathy, or pain goes away. In many cases the damage is permanent and the pain, neuropathy or nerve damage will not go away.(More)http://www.informativepost.com/2008/06/19/Attn-50-and-Over-Shingles-961.htm

Living with Spastic Colon and Nervous Bowel When You're Young

I Have Never Been Diagnosed with IBS, but My Condition is IBS

Looking back over the years I have figured out that my problem with diarrhea and constipation started for a short time when I was 13. Then it resurfaced when I was 19. At this time I would just either get to school or work and end up with the diarrhea for the first couple of hours in the morning. When I was in school, and feeling the cramps and end up with diarrhea, and could not stay in class, school would send me home. When I got home, I was fine. No more diarrhea. Now these as I have come to call them my attacks lasted on and off for about 3 months, just in the morning hours. Using Pep-to Bismol was the cure way back then.
When I was 19, I ended up with the diarrhea for 3 weeks straight. I tried Pep-to Bismol, Kaeopectate, nothing helped. As I worked at the Hospital (more)

C-Deficille Clostridium Can Be Caused by Too Many Antibiotics

A Horribly Painful Condition Which Also Can Be Deadly

In 1999, I had a cold or sinus infection and was on antibiotics. The infection was still in full swing after 10 days, so the Doctor Doubled my prescription to 1000 milligrams of amoxicillin. This cleared up the cold or sinus infection and also caused more problems: I ended up with the diarrhea for 3 weeks, severe cramps, diarrhea, and even to the point I thought I had to go and all it was a few flakes. Each week it got worse. When the third week rolled around, I was at work, and I couldn't even stand up straight anymore and the following day I was home on a Saturday and got the shakes and chills so bad that I ended up in the emergency room. They wanted a urine sample. I said what about a stool sample. They said, "No." Well, I insisted. They ran some emergency tests, did blood work up, and then I was admitted to the hospital for five days.

Foods and Products Diverticulitis Sufferers Should Avoid

Living with Diverticulitis and Learning What I Can and Can't Eat

In 1999, I was having a lot of difficulty with my spastic colon and nervous bowel, now known as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. My doctor had me admitted to the hospital for a colonoscopy. First, you have to be cleaned out, and then you have the test. They put you to sleep. You do not fully awaken but sometimes you do recall a few things. I vaguely remember watching the computer screen as he was clipping something out of my intestines.

After the test was over, I was sent back to my room and kept on a liquid diet in case they would have to run more tests. Well the next day came and went without seeing the doctor. He got tied up in surgery. He came the next day. He said that I had a few pockets which are called Diverticula and if not treated or taken out can eventually turn into full blown Diverticulitis if one doesn't watch some of the things they eat.http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/466460/foods_and_products_diverticulitis_sufferers.html?cat=43

Mucinex Dm Stops Nagging Coughs and Decongests

I have had allergies my entire life. First, it was just the normal, seasonal hay fever when I lived with my parents in the city. Once I got married, we moved to a small village out in the country. Then my allergies would trigger in spring, summer and fall. Once we moved to the farm 26 years ago, my allergies were active all seasons except winter until I started milking cows, bailing hay, doing chores and working with all the animals. Then the allergies were year-round.

Several years back I saw a ear, nose and throat specialist as my allergies got worse. He said I had Chronic Sinusinus. He had me flush out my nasal passages daily with a warm saline solution, and then use prescription nasal spray, eye drops and Zyrtek D.http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/383768/mucinex_dm_stops_nagging_coughs_and.html?cat=5

Tender After Bite: The Itch Eraser

Works Quickly, Eliminates the Itch and Sting of Bites

For fast Relief from stings, insect bites and other minor skin irritations and rashes use Tender After Bite. I carry my Tender After Bite in my purse, we have one in each car, first aid kit, barn, and one in the medicine cabinet. It is so easy to use it comes in a hard tube with a soft round tip and screw on cap. Once you have been bitten by a bee/wasp or all the wonderful other bugs that love to bite, just unscrew the cap and go over the area where you were stung or bit (but remember to remove the bee's stinger before applying Tender After Bite). When the mosquitoes are out they always head for me, once bit, I take out the Tender After Bite and apply it to the bite area and it immediately relieves the itching. It has been a life saver for me.

Band-Aid Tough-Strips for that Tough Injury

How many times have you gone to the store to pick up band-aids? When you get to the first aid or bandage section what do you see? Brand after Brand of different band-aids. Different sizes and shapes. You can see through some, there are the traditional band-aids, colored band-aids, children's band-aids, mixed sizes, medicated and more.

My favorite brand is the Band-Aid Tough-Strips they have a strong adhesive that doesn't come lose until you are ready to take it off. They are made of a heavy stretchable fabric(that is also great for added protection and comfort). There is adhesive around the pad so it will adhere around your wound. They are comfortable, and flexible which is an added plus. Plus they don't have that band-aid smell from the standard kind of band-aid.

Neosporin Original to the Rescue

Triple Antibiotic, Odorless, Easy to Use and Apply

Neosporin Original Ointment is by Johnson & Johnson and is a triple antibiotic topical ointment that we have kept in our home for years. Now our children keep it in their homes.

The original ointment was first offered for retail sale in June 1954.

I am one to always get cuts, hang nails, you name it. Neosporin has helped heal those wounds and clear up infections quickly. I also have a tendency to get infections from hang nails, or those wonderful occasional adult pimples that end up getting infected. Years ago my index finger was infected from a hang nail so I called my pharmacist and asked him what to use to draw the infection out. He told me to use Neosporin with a band-aid to keep the ointment

Two Little Boys

I received this by email today from my friend Joanne. I thought it was so cute I wanted to share it. The funny things children say.

~ Two Little Boys ~

After a hardy rainstorm filled all the potholes in the streets and alleys,

a young mother watched her two little boys playing in the puddle through her

kitchen window.

The older of the two, a five year old lad, grabbed his sibling by the back of his

head and shoved his face into the water hole.

As the boy recovered and stood laughing and dripping, the mother runs to the

yard in a panic.

" Why on earth did you do that to your little brother?!" she asks as she shook

the older boy in anger.

"We were just playing 'church' mommy, " he said.

"And I was just baptizing him.....in the name of the Father, the Son and in...the hole he goes."

The New Normal – Healing from a Dysfunctional Family

By Emily Battaglia, LifeScript Staff Writer
Monday, October 16, 2006

Nobody had a perfect childhood, not even the kid down the street whose family seemed to have it all together. We all grew up with some sort of dysfunction, and we’re all who we are today because of it. But dysfunction doesn’t determine our destiny. We must learn how to heal from a bad childhood and to take destiny into our own hands. Find out how to start healing from the pain of a dysfunctional family. Plus: Are you depressed…

What did your dysfunctional family look like? Characteristics of a dysfunctional family may include alcoholic or drug-addicted parents, physically, emotionally or sexually abusive parents, psychologically disturbed parents, excessively rigid or controlling parents, bitter divorces, or uninvolved parents.

The impact a dysfunctional family can be overwhelmingly and lasting. Some of the effects include:

Difficulty with emotional or sexual intimacy
Alcohol or drug abuse
Trust issues
Poor communication skills
Clinginess in relationships Oversensitivity
Obsession with perfectionism
Feelings of abandonment or isolation
Feelings of powerlessness
Feelings of worthlessness

We can’t choose the family we’re given. But children of dysfunctional families can overcome leftover feelings from a bad childhood with a new adult perspective. Here’s what you need to know:
You can’t change people
No matter how much you beg or plead, most adults don’t change their core personality or behavior. There has to be a point you reach in which you stop wishful thinking or believing a parent when they say they’ll change – you’ll be disappointed often. You also can’t continuously seek approval or acceptance from someone who never met those needs.
If a dysfunctional parent who won’t change is harming your life with destructive behavior, it’s OK to keep your distance or cut off ties altogether. Blood is not thicker than water. You should only allow someone to be a part of your life if they exhibit good, consistent actions. You have every right to set boundaries to protect your well-being. (more...)

If We Could See Beyond Today

If We Could See Beyond Today

If we could see beyond today
As God can see,
If all the clouds should roll away,
The shadows flee;
O'er present grieves we would not fret,
Each sorrow we would soon forget,
For many joys are waiting yet
For you and me.

If we could know beyond today
As God doth know
Why dearest treasures pass away,
And tears must flow;
And why the darkness leads to light,
Why dreary days will soon grow bright,
Some day life's wrong will be made right,
Faith tells us so.

If we could see, if we could know
we often say,
But God in love a veil doth throw
across our way.
We cannot see what lies before,
And so we cling to Him the more,
He leads us till this life is o'er,
Trust and obey.

Quilting Patterns - Patchwork Curtains & Patchwork Chair Pad

Quilting Patterns - Patchwork Curtains
http://www.craftown.com/quilt/pat2.htm

This curtain can be used for a shower curtain or for a window curtain.

If you’re after a quick and easy project with big impact and little effort—this curtain is a natural. Fabrics are arranged in a pleasing random style, such as that used in old-fashioned crazy quilting.

Materials: Assorted print fabrics; One sheet or fabric for backing; Metal grommets (optional).

Instruction: Measure the size of your doorway or shower, and draw a diagram to scale on which to work out your pattern. Plan the design in vertical strips of varying widths. Next, divide the strips into uneven rectangles. Cut the fabric and piece the strips; then add an appliqué heart or two, and sew the strips together into a curtain. Cut and piece fabric for a backing the same size as the curtain. Place the two right sides together and sew, leaving an opening for turning. Turn and stitch the opening closed. Add fabric loops at the top for hanging or metal grommets for hooks.
Window Curtain with lining

Now you can use these curtains on your windows as well. Just cut the curtains wider, and put a large hem in the top, then run a stitch above the hem where the curtain rod will go. Make it about 1/4 inch larger. Back the curtain with material or use a sheet. Attach the sheet to the top of the curtain, and stitch through it where the hem is. This will keep it in place. Hem the lining about and inch or so shorter than the curtain. This lining will help your curtains last longer

Free Quilting Patterns - Patchwork Chair Pad

http://www.craftown.com/quilt/quilt4.htm

Materials: Assorted prints for patchwork; Solid color fabric for backing; Heavy canvas; Polyester quilt batting or fleece.

Directions: To start your chair pad, determine the size of the sling. Then cut a piece of heavy canvas to this size, adding five extra inches on each end for fitting over the frame and tacking down.

Plan your patchwork top so it will be the same length but one inch wider than the canvas. Decide on the size of your squares and make a template for them, adding 1/4-inch seam allowance if you wish. Cut squares of print fabrics and sew them together into rows. Then stitch the rows together to form the cover.

Cut a piece of backing fabric the same size as the finished patchwork. Cut a layer of polyester fleece or quilt batting the same size as the canvas. For more padding, cut several layers.

Place the backing fabric on the floor, wrong side up. Lay the canvas on top of it, and the padding over the canvas. Then add the top, right side up. Baste all layers together. Quilt or tie the layers together. For quilting, machine stitch along the seams between the squares. Use a heavy needle and stitch slowly so as not to break or bend the needle. For tying, use pearl cotton threaded into a needle. Take a small stitch through all layers in the corners of the squares. Knot the threads and cut off the excess.

To finish the edges, fold the top over the canvas, then fold under the edge of the backing. Slip-stitch the side edges closed. Machine stitch along the edges, and attach cover to the frame.

My Secret Place

By Pamela R. Russell

Lying in the soft grass, I watch
Morning rays peak through embracing branches
As dew springs forth on blades of grass-
Reflections of iridescent light bounce off walled bushes
And dance with water on green leaves.
Birds sing as they bathe in the gathering dew.
Their melodies drift through the air,
A signal to all that everything is at peace.
Velvet petals open and stretch toward heaven -
Begging the sun to smile upon them and share its light.
Reflections on water
Mirror images of distorted beauty,
Then gently fade and wash away.
All is calm in this enchanted place
Where earth and heaven bring nature to life.
There is no past - no future - only this beautiful moment.

Think You've Been the Victim of Credit Card Fraud?

Last November my husband came home from work and asked if I had applied for any charge cards. I just looked at him, and said no and then I got angry and asked why he asked such a dumb question. Well it seems a x-friend of mine stopped by my husbands place of employment to drop off some of my junk mail I had been receiving at the address that a family member and I were in business together at one time. This x-friend lived with the family member. Well he proceeded to tell my husband that I applied for a charge card on November 16, 2006 and that was all that was said.

When my husband told me this I flew into and immediate panic as I knew this x-friend had a function out of town in a week or so. I would not have put it past this person to have tried to get a charge card. I also know that this weekend entailed a hotel room for 3 days, and that said person loves to spend money. I was so angry, that someone would try to do something like this and since I was already on the Internet I immediately typed in how to report that someone possibly was trying to open a credit card account in my name. Up popped all the information I needed including other areas of concern to cover. (more...)http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/316782/think_youve_been_the_victim_of_credit.html?cat=3

Love the moment. Flowers grow out of dark moments. Therefore, each moment is vital. It affects the whole. Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed.

Remember your yesterdays, dream your tomorrows and live your todays.

LORD, PROP US UP

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old deacon who always prayed,
Lord, prop us up on our leanin side.
After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently.
He answered, "Well sir, you see, it's like this....I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time, it's withstood a lot of weather, it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years. It's still
Standing, but one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit. So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall.
Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn. I been around a long time, I've withstood a lot of life's storms, I've
Withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times,
And I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, cause
I figure a lot of us get to leaning, at times."
Sometime we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that
We shouldn't, so we need to pray, "Lord, prop us up on our leaning side," so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord.

Unfolding The Rosebud

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of GOD's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of GOD's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.
